With many of our endeavors, whether it be business or personal, there is an expectation that if a certain thing doesn’t happen, if we don’t reach what we thought was going to happen, that everything is a “failure”, when in fact, it is a learning moment. Sometimes that’s what we need; to do and to learn, and to embrace these “failures” along the way.
We don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow. You can plan everything down to the finest details, but the reality is that tomorrow can turn everything upside down. Have your plan, get your feet wet, get your hands dirty, and make the best of what you get along the way. That’s how you persevere.
Your way of thinking is astronomical. Life throws many things our way, whether it be the demise of your business, a serious health concern, a failed marriage, or a car accident. You can sit within the mindset of “why me? why did this happen to me?” or you can view these obstacles as a gift.
That can sound absurd at first – how the heck is having to close the doors of my practice a gift? How is a cancer diagnosis a gift? How are broken bones and a mashed up vehicle (that cost thousands of dollars) a gift? It can be hard to see within the moment, but it can be the gift of redirection and perseverance.
You may never know why it happened, but you know it happened, and you know that you got through it. Sometimes bad things happen to good people, and it’s what you do to get through that helps shape and define who you are.
